By the providential work of God we mean that God takes care of all of his creatures; he arranges everything according to purposes most wise and guides us on the pathway of perfection toward the Kingdom of God.

37. How does God preserve the order of this world and how does he provide for his creatures?

God maintains the order of this world with his laws. Also, God provides for his creatures through these laws.

The laws of God are perfect and eternal laws.

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandments of the Lord are clear, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.    Psalm 19:7-9.

The creative and providential works of God present him as eternal, perfect, omnipotent, good, just and merciful. These qualities result from his fatherly love.
